Having graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1987 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Madeiros worked for 3 years as small animal veterinarian for a mixed practice in Ontario.

He returned to Bermuda in 1990 to work for Ettrick, doing small animal and equine work. He was very active with the Bermuda SPCA for 25 years and is past president of the Bermuda Veterinary Association.

In his spare time, Dr. Madeiros enjoys boating, gardening and travelling. He has a keen sense of humour and is popular with staff and clients alike. The animals are fond of him, too!

Mary Barnes

Business Manager

Mary is Bermudian and started working at Ettrick in 1977 as a student for the former owner, Dr James. At that time, the hospital was in the basement of Dr James house. Mary then went on to work mainly in the insurance industry, a career that spanned over 20 years. However, her love for animals meant that she also volunteered and worked for the SPCA during this time. In 2000, Dr Andrew Madeiros purchased Ettrick Animal Hospital and having worked alongside him years before, Mary became his unofficial and unpaid helper! One year later, Mary left the insurance world and joined Ettrick as the Business Manager, a position she has now held for 19 years. A challenging role but one that she greatly enjoys, Mary’s responsibilities include stock control and inventory amongst many other areas. Outside of work, Mary enjoys traveling, cruises and she has a great love for London, UK.
